4 Men’s Fragrances for Autumn: My Picks

With the arrival of autumn, the air changes, the colors change, and often, so does your craving for perfume. Temperatures drop, and those woodier, spicier, warmer, and more enveloping fragrances start to feel particularly beautiful on the skin.

Today, niche perfumery has accustomed us to increasingly unisex fragrances, and personally, I believe that a perfume should not necessarily have a gender. What really matters is how we feel it on our own skin.

However, in the perfume shop, I still very often hear people ask me: “I would like a decidedly masculine perfume. What do you recommend?”

And so, today's article was born from this very question.

I have chosen four very different fragrances, but which I find particularly beautiful on a man and perfect to discover with the arrival of autumn.

Four fragrances, four characters, and four different ways of interpreting men’s perfume in autumn. Let's discover them one by one, starting with the one that perhaps makes me think of this season more than any other.

 

1. 333 Övernatur – L:A Bruket

If I think of autumn, 333 Övernatur is one of the first fragrances that comes to mind. It’s like stepping into a forest after the rain: green, damp, woody, and deeply natural.

It opens with fir needles and spruce resin, only to become deeper thanks to patchouli and oakmoss. At the base emerges that specific sensation of wet earth and undergrowth that gives it a truly recognizable character.

I find it particularly beautiful on a man who loves woody and green scents that are elegant but unconventional. To me, it is a perfect fragrance to wear during the day in autumn: it has character, but it doesn't need to be intrusive to get noticed.

2. Flâneur – Profumi di Polignano

Flâneur is my choice for those who are looking for an elegant, decisive, and characterful masculine perfume for autumn.

The opening of blackcurrant and hazelnut gives way to a decidedly warmer and spicier heart, where we find pistachio, saffron, ginger, and incense. However, it is as time passes that, in my opinion, it becomes even more interesting: birch wood, patchouli, and oakmoss give it a deep, woody, and enveloping trail.

It is one of those perfumes that doesn't reveal everything at the first spray and is worth letting evolve on the skin.

When I would wear it: especially in the afternoon and evening, when you are looking for an elegant, intense fragrance capable of leaving a mark.

3. Leather Wood – Ajmal

Leather Wood is my choice for those looking for a perfume with a decisive, elegant, and deeply masculine character.

The star is leather, intense and refined, accompanied by woody and spicy nuances that give it depth and character. It is an important fragrance, but I don't find it excessive: on the skin, it becomes warm, sophisticated, and very recognizable.

It is precisely in autumn that, in my opinion, Leather Wood gives its best. With cooler temperatures, its leathery and woody side becomes even more enveloping and fascinating.

I imagine it on a self-confident, elegant man who loves perfumes with personality and isn't looking for something obvious.

When I would wear it: from late afternoon into the evening, but also during the day if you love more structured and decisive fragrances.

 

4. Escapade – Shauran Paris

Escapade is my proposal for those seeking an elegant, sensual masculine perfume with a significant presence.

Bergamot and ginger give it a lively opening, but immediately after, the perfume becomes warmer and more enveloping. Saffron, leather, labdanum, and sandalwood build an intense heart, with raspberry adding an unexpected nuance without making it excessively sweet.

As time goes by, patchouli, teak wood, vanilla, tonka bean, and musk emerge: a warm, woody, and very fascinating trail.

On a man, I imagine him elegant and self-confident, especially when evening falls and temperatures start to drop.

When I would wear it: At the office, in the evening, for dinner or a special occasion, when you want a perfume that has character and leaves a beautiful trail.
